Delight in the Lord

Middle Eastern Dinner

God has generously gifted us with His beautiful creation, inviting us to experience His goodness and redemption. He sets joy before us daily.

The Psalmist gives us a beautiful command to fully embrace these rich gifts: delight in the Lord.

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Here are five ways to delight in the Lord.

1. Engage in Prayer and Worship

Making time for prayer and worship draws us closer to God, allowing us to experience His presence more deeply.

“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” Psalm 100:2

2. Meditate on Scripture

Reflecting on and internalizing God’s Word brings joy and aligns our desires with His.

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:2

3. Practice Gratitude

Cultivating a thankful heart for God’s blessings and His character enhances our delight in Him.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

4. Obey His Commands

Find joy in living according to God’s laws and understanding how His boundaries bring protection and blessing.

“If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15

5. Seek His Presence in Nature and Creativity

Admiring God’s creation and using our creativity to glorify Him deepens our delight in Him.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1

Put it into Practice.

This week, intentionally choose a quiet place to spend time with God. Light a candle or brew a cup of tea to create a peaceful setting. Select one of the Psalms above, write it out, and take a moment to meditate on these truths and thank God for His abundant blessings.

May you find joy and peace as you delight in the Lord.
